Stella Wong

Stella is an Independent Director at Waystone with over a decade of experience in the financial services industry. Based in the Cayman Islands office, Stella serves as an independent director on the boards of investment management and investment advisory companies that manage and advise a diverse portfolio of funds with varying complexities, including long/short equities, debt instruments, commodities, multi-strategy and private equity structures.

Stella is also responsible for implementing strategies to deliver economic substance solutions in accordance with the Economic Substance Act in the Cayman Islands. She oversees the various Core Income Generating Activities for relevant entities engaged in fund management business in Cayman. This includes conducting the meetings of the board of directors, undertaking portfolio risks management of investment funds managed by the relevant entities and reviewing economic substance returns for filing with the Department for International Tax Cooperation.

Prior to joining Waystone, Stella was an Audit Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Cayman Islands where she was responsible for the audit of CIMA-registered funds. She has a thorough knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP as well as the regulatory and reporting requirements for both mutual and private funds domiciled in the Cayman Islands.

Stella is a Registered Director with the CIMA and a Chartered Accountant of Singapore. She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) Degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Stella is also a member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). Being a trilingual, Stella is fluent in Mandarin and Malay.
