Brendan McGrath

As Group Internal Audit Director based in Dublin, Brendan’s responsibilities encompass the oversight and strengthening of internal audit processes at Waystone. Leveraging his credentials as a FCCA affiliated accountant, he is also recognised as a PRMIA Operational Risk Manager (ORM) and a CIIA Certified Internal Auditor. Brendan plays a critical role in delivering Waystone’s objective to consistently assess the adequacy and effectiveness of governance and management of risks, giving an evidence-based opinion on all aspects of governance, risk management and internal controls. Brendan focuses on designing, resourcing and implementing a robust framework and managing a team that is responsible for the continual augmentation of the internal audit programme.

Prior to joining Waystone, Brendan served at Centaur Fund Services, until its acquisition by Waystone in 2023, where he was the Group Director of Risk and Internal Audit including leading the ISAE 3402 engagement with Deloitte. Additionally, he took on the role of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for Centaur between 2019 to 2021, ensuring compliance with legislations such as the GDPR, CCPA, Cayman DPL, and Bermuda PIPA across various jurisdictions. His earlier experiences include roles as Fund Accountant Manager at HedgeServ, Fund Accountant Supervisor at both Citi and HedgeServ.

Brendan earned his Master of Arts in Financial Engineering from Maynooth University. He also acquired the Professional Certificate in Investment Fund Services Risk Management and the Professional Diploma in International Investment Fund Services from the Institute of Bankers. Brendan holds the PCF13 for Centaur Fund Services Limited with the Central Bank of Ireland and also serves on the Irish Fund’s Internal Audit Specialist Group. In 2019, Brendan was awarded the Irish Early Career Awards Risk and Compliance Professional of the Year.
